The opposite of a good idea…
Yet another psychological insight that is, unfortunately, on prominent display in our current political culture.
Creative thinking often comes down to a simple willingness to explore “bad” ideas — or, at the very least, ideas that aren’t necessarily known to be good.
I was reminded of this recently while visiting Moab, Utah. Being the region’s “offseason”, it was cold, windy, occasionally snowy and… absolutely gorgeous.
There’s something magical about visiting a place like Moab in the offseason. For starters, one can avoid the crowds — and that is, in and of itself, well worth the effort. Arches National Park, for example, gets so busy during tourist season, it is considering new crowd-mitigation efforts to keep selfie-snapping tourists from spoiling the vast wilderness.
